Buyer wish lists change.

Some features that felt essential a few years ago matter less today, while others have moved much higher on the list.

There isn't one perfect home, but there are a few things I consistently hear buyers asking for in the Sioux Falls area.

Three-Stall Garages

Garage space is a big one.

Buyers may want room for vehicles, storage, tools, hobbies or outdoor equipment. Oversized garages can be especially appealing.

Functional Floor Plans

Buyers aren't just counting square footage.

They're paying attention to how that space works.

Open gathering spaces, functional kitchens, mudrooms, pantries and useful storage can make a home feel much more livable.

A Private Primary Suite

A primary bathroom and walk-in closet continue to show up on many wish lists, particularly for move-up buyers.

Finished Basements

In South Dakota, the basement matters.

A finished lower level can add bedrooms, entertaining space, an office, workout space or room for guests.

Homes That Feel Move-In Ready

Not every buyer needs a completely updated home.

But many buyers want to feel like they can comfortably move in without immediately tackling a long list of expensive projects.

The Important Part

A home doesn't need every popular feature to sell.

It needs to be positioned appropriately for the buyers most likely to purchase it.

That's where pricing, preparation and marketing all work together.
